This is a nice example of an early Winchester 1892 Sporting Rifle. Made in 1894. SN# 53,XXX. Caliber 38-40. Standard 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, and crescent buttplate. Original sights. Early style barrel address and tang markings. Overall, NRA Antique Fine+ Condition showing very little wear but suffers from less than adequate storage. Frame retains 80-85% original blue with some small patches of light corrosion from poor storage. Some light pitting on buttplate. Hammer and lever still show lots of original bright case colors with some original fire blue remaining on the loading port. Barrel and magazine tube with 90%+ original blue. Wood has 95% original varnish with perfect wood to metal fit. Only notable flaws to wood are dent on left side of forend and 3 kill notches in top of comb...otherwise Excellent. Nice action and Bore is in Mint Condition. A well-above average example.
