Winchester 1894 Rifle in 38-55

This is another nice example of an early Winchester 1894 rifle in caliber 38-55 with standard 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, crescent rifle buttplate, and Lyman rear tang sight.  According to the Madis Book, it was manufactured in the year 1895.

Overall condition grades well into NRA Antique Excellent with 96% strong bright original blue on the receiver and bolt.  Hammer shows 80% and lever 65%  strong original case colors  that are still quite bright with much of the original protective lacquer remaining.  Loading port shows 85% bright original fire blue.  Barrel and magazine tube retain 97% original blue with a few light nicks and scratches.  Excellent markings throughout which include the early style Winchester 2 line barrel address and 3 line tang markings with maker, model, and patent dates.  Correct and original early style hammer with the decorative dipped border.  Excellent screws overall.  Wood to metal fit is perfect having never been cleaned or sanded.  Stock and forearm still show 90% original lacquer with a nice light blondish orange hue to the wood having seen very little exposure to oils and dirt over the years which tend to darken grain over time.  Very few nicks and dings.  One of the better 1894's we've had.
