Winchester Lee Model 1895 Straight Pull Military Rifle

This is a very strong example of the Model 1895 Winchester Lee in Caliber .236.  This particular rifle is in the 13,000 serial range with an antique serial number.  The Winchester Lee saw a great deal of military service in the hands of the Navy and Marines through the Spanish American War in Cuba, the Phillipines and the Boxer Rebellion in China.  About 30 Winchester Lee's were even salvaged from the Battleship Maine.  This particular rifle was sold commercially.  However, its not a sporting rifle but the military musket configuration (Same as issued to the Navy and USMC) with 28" round barrel with military sights and bayonet lug.  It still has its original hooded front sight.  The rear sling swivel is detachable and can be moved from the buttstock and re-attached to the eyelet located at the front of the magazine.

Overall condition is NRA Antique Excellent with 95%+ original blue.  Fire blue is present on several of the smaller parts such as the rear sight spring.  I have to say this rifle shows very little wear and aside from some light handling marks on the wood and has been well preserved over the past 109 years.  The wood still has nearly all of its original finish intact with no chips, cracks, or repairs.  Nice mechanics and a great bore.  A superior example of a scarce Winchester that is not always easy to find in higher grades of condition.
