This is a nice example of the Colt Model 1877 Lightning Revolver in Attic condition. Standard 4-1/2" barrel in desirable .41 Colt which collectors have often nicknamed the "Thunderer". Blued and case-colored finish with checkered hard rubber grips. All matching numbers. Desirable antique serial number is in the 109,000 range which dates its manufacture to 1898 and just under the Jan. 1, 1899 serial 111,500 cutoff for this model.
Overall Condition grades to NRA Antique Fine Plus Condition with 60% original case colors on the frame that range from bright in protected areas, discernable along the right side, to smoky in more open spots. The cylinder has 75% original blue. Barrel retains 70% original blue with some holster wear along the left side and ejector housing has around 50% original blue. Trigger guard and backstrap have excellent original blue remaining on the profiles giving nice contrast between the blue and case colors on the frame. Overall, triggerguard has 75% original blue and 40% on the backstrap. Trigger shows 80% fire blue. Screws are untouched and remain excellent overall with most showing almost all their original fire blue. The original bright profiles on the hammer are starting to tarnish but are still discernably bright with 80% bright original fire blue on the back panel that is starting to fade. Grips are Excellent with no chips, cracks, or repairs and fit the frame perfectly. Bore has no rings or bulges...rifling intact but shows scattered pitting from neglect. I'd rate it Fair at best. The action is in nice working order...indexes and locks properly in both single and double action modes. Hard to find these with nice mechanics.
