Antique Colt 38 New Army w/ Scarce "COLT 1892" Mk'd Grips

This is a Colt Commercial version of the Double Action New Army and Navy Revolver.  Standard 6" barrel in .38 Colt.  Antique Pre-1898.  SN# is in the 68,000 range.  Made in 1895.  Best of all, it has the rare Model "1892" marked hard rubber grips....similar to item 0918 we sold last year which was near this one in the 70,000 range.  Usually, the grips just say Colt with the rampant Colt horse logo but a few were marked with 1892 below the horse.  These grips are perfect, they fit perfect,  and they're numbered to the gun on the inner panels.

NRA Antique Excellent Condition.  The Colt DA has always been a tough variant for us to photograph...particularly with large percentages of original finish.  There are simply too many contrasting surfaces reflecting light to get good overall shots.  This gun is a GEM...and the pictures do not do it justice. Overall, the frame has 97% bright original blue.  The straps have about 60% blue.  Cylinder shows 96% strong orig. blue.  Trigger, back of hammer, and screws still show significant portions of their original fire blue.  Sides of hammer still retain 100% of their original factory bright polish.  Barrel has 85% bright blue overall with the balance due mostly to flaking.  Action works nicely in both SA and DA modes.  Bore is bright and shiny. Fine+ overall. Grips are perfect...no chips, cracks, or repairs.  Perfect metal fit as well. bright original blue overall with some with some little specks of brown mixing through from age.  A beautiful example of an antique Colt Double Action that has a special pair of Colt grips!
