This is a Colt magazine with the early style lanyard ring for the Colt Model 1911 semi-automatic pistol in caliber .45 ACP. It has the two tone blued/bright finish which is proper for this type of mag. Technically, according to the Clawson book, this is referenced as a Type 3 magazine for the 1911...which followed the Type 1 with exposed base plate and the Type 2 with "Key Hole" or saw-cuts in the back. The Type 3 has a solid back without the keyhole. This was the last and most plentiful version on the lanyard loop magazines before the loop was eliminated altogether from the design. These are correct on Model 1911's serial numbered from around 40,000 up to #125,566 (mid-1913 to mid-1916). Overall very good condition with 50-60% faded and worn blue below the temper line. Lanyard loop is intact and not loose. Seen lots of wear and use but solid with no cracks or dents. A good early magazine for an early Colt 1911 or would go nicely as a spare in a Mills Pouch as part of a holster rig.
