This is a near perfect example of the Colt Open Top Pocket Revolver in .22 rimfire. Standard 2 3/8" barrel with 7 shot cylinder and walnut grips. Colt produced this model from 1871-1877. There are plenty around so you'd think it wouldn't be hard to find a nice one but its actually quite a challenge. Nearly every one we find shows significant wear to the original finish. This is one of the best open tops we've seen in a long time. The frame has 99.9% bright original nickel. The barrel and cylinder would be the same percentage except for some minor nickel loss due to powder residue which caused some flaking. Thus, they're both about 90-95% original nickel but the finish is strong like a 100% gun. Nice screws still show about 85% bright vivid fireblue overall which gives an almost stunning contrast to the nickel. Wood grips are perfect with 98% original varnish and perfect wood to metal fit. A very strong example of an open top that is worthy of Colt Box.
