Hopkins & Allen Blue Jacket No.1 Revolver in Box

This is a nice .22 Caliber Hopkins and Allen Blue Jacket Revolver complete in its original factory shipping box with picture label.  Topstrap reads "Blue Jacket No. 1 Pat Mar. 23, 1871".  2 1/8" round barrel with seven shot cylinder. Overall, excellent condition with 97% original nickel finish remaining.  Strong case colors on hammer and 90%+ original varnish on hardwood grips.  Original cardboard box is in Good+ condition with picture label on lid a little wrinkled and slightly soiled from moisture and age.  Illustration of revolver is 1:1 scale with the gun and reads "Blue Jacket, No. 1.  22-100 Cal."  Sides of the box are red with a dark green base.  It appears someone has re-inforced the interior of the box and lid with a heavy kraft paper to add additional strength...well done and not very noticeable.  Hopkins and Allen produced a multitude of inexpensive nickel plated pocket revolvers throughout the 1870's and 1880's.  They were lower quality compared to more well-known manufacturers and helped coin the term "suicide special".  Like this one, most were unmarked with their maker's name but had interesting  array of interesting nick-names stamped on the frames and barrels.  Today, examples in fine to excellent condition are relatively scarce and highly collectible....and are becoming exceedingly difficult to obtain with their original picture label boxes.
