U.S. Peace Flask Dated By Batty

This Peace Flask was manufactured in 1857 by Batty of Springfield Massachusetts.   The body has the correct features for the 1857 contract including the rounded strap rings and eagle with head turned to the right.   The body has good seams, no splits, with some small dents towards the bottom.   Traces of nickel finish here and there but overall, it's worn away from the brass which has now turned to a very pleasing patina.   The only non-original item on this flask is the spout, which appears to be a correct replacement.  Most likely, the original was probably damaged or lost.   The original spout spring is intact and working.   Top of lid marked "BATTY SPRINGFIELD MASS" dated "1857" with inspector markings "R.H.K.W" and "J.H.".   A good looking example for hundreds less than most we've seen on the market.
