Sharps Model 1853 Slant Breech Carbine

This is a nice early Sharps Slant breech carbine also commonly referred to as "John Brown Model" or sometimes even as "Beecher's Bibles". This is the first time this rifle has been offered for sale in 60 years having come out of an old collection. Serial number is in the 21,000 range,  .52  Caliber, and 21 1/2" barrel. Nice brass furniture.  Overall, this carbine was used but nice and sharp with everything original down to the rear sight and saddle bar. Bore is even good.   Action is fine. The barrel still has a considerable amount of original blue.  Very nice wood.  There is an old Collection Number on the top of the butt stock secured by a piece of clear tape.  A very strong example of an early Sharps carbine which gained fame in the hands of John Brown and his Abolitionist followers during the raid on the Harper's Ferry Arsenal in 1859.
