This is a 4th Model Smith and Wesson Double Action Pocket Revolver in .32 S&W. 3-1/2" barrel w/ five shot cylinder. It has an antique pre-1898 serial number in the 153,000 range. Standard nickel plated finish with case colored trigger and hammer. Grips are standard checkered hard rubber with S&W logo. Patent dates go up through 1882 on the barrel. BTW, these markings are tiny so bear in mind that the barrel rib on a .32 DA is not wider than a toothpick.
Overall condition grades to NRA Antique Excellent with 96% original nickel plating remaining on the barrel, cylinder, frame, and straps. Hammer and trigger exhibit good discernable case colors...about 50%. Blued trigger guard and barrel latch have mostly turned to plum brown with 25% original blue remaining. Grips are in Very Good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Checkering does show some wear. The mechanics are perfect including the ejectors with the barrel still latching up tightly to the frame. Bore is in Good condition with decent lands and grooves but a little frosty...typical of most black powder era weapons from the 19th century. Nice example of an early S&W DA revolver.
