Smith and Wesson 32 DA in Original Box

This is a near mint example of a Smith & Wesson 4th Model Double Action Revolver in .32 caliber that is still in its original factory box.   Low Antique serial number is in the 56,000 range which seems likely to be 1st or 2nd year production for the 4th Model (1884-1909)/(43,000-282,000).   3-1/2" barrel.  Patent dates on the barrel only go up to 1882.   Standard nickel finish with case colored hammer, trigger, and proper blued trigger guard and latch.   The orange end label on the box confirms the nickel finish and barrel length in addition to the serial number being lightly penciled on the bottom of the box.   Standard checkered hard rubber grips.

Overall condition grades to NRA Antique Excellent Plus with 87-98% original nickel.   Revolver appears to have been fired just a handful of times in its 120+ years of existence.  Case colors on trigger and hammer are very strong.   Trigger guard has 95+% bright original blue.   Aside from a few minor spots where the nickel has lifted on the right side of frame and one spot on the cylinder, the plating is nearly perfect.  Hard rubber grips are in perfect shape with nice S&W logo and sharp checkering.   No chips, cracks, or repairs.   Excellent bore.   Action is tight with the barrel locking up snugly to the frame.

Original S&W box is in very good condition overall with no loose edges or damaged ends.   The maroon fabric that covers the cardboard has minimal fading and shows just minor wear along the edges.   Bottom of the box has some stains from water or oil...and a minor black mark inside the box.   Direction on the inside of the lid are perfect.   Orange end label is in near perfect condition.   Nice example of an early S&W DA.
