This is a nice example of an antique British Double Action Pocket Revolver manufactured by Webley and Scott. It's a Mark II in .380 caliber. 4" octagon barrel w/ integral ramp and front sight. Small-sized birdshead style checkered hard rubber grips. It's cased in a typical late 19th century case made of English oak with its original blue felt lining. Interior contains a small tin for primers, a cleaning brush, oil bottle, cartridge tray, and key. Left side of frame is marked with the Webley Scott flying bullet logo with "Mark II 380" along the side of the topstrap. Right side is marked with the serial number in the 300 range next to the words "WEBLEY'S PATENT". Cylinder is marked with tiny British proofs from the Birmingham Proof House. Birmingham and London were centers for the English gun trade.
Overall condition grades to NRA Antique Fine++...this really should be in NRA Excellent but the original blued finish has flaked in areas. It shows very little wear. Grips are perfect. Action works perfectly. Bore is Fine...bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves showing some slight scattered erosion down in the grooves. Case is in fine condition with 95% original varnish and no cracks. Nice example of a Sherlock Holmes era Webley complete with original case.
