Original 4-piece set of steel/brass cleaning rods for the late Henry rifle, Winchester Model 1866 and 1873 rifles. These rods were stored inside the stock of each rifle beneath a brass trap door located on the buttplate. This set has the brass tip which dates them to the early 1890's and before. After approx. 1892/93, most later rods came with steel tips. These rods would be correct for any 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and most 4th model 1866 rifles in .44 rimfire. They would also be correct for all 1st, 2nd and most 3rd model 1873 rifles made before 1893 in 38-40 or 44-40 calibers. Note: .22 rimfire and 32-20 calibers were not supplied with jointed cleaning rods. They are also correct for original Henry rifles in the approx. 5-14,000 serial range. Fine condition overall. No bends, cracks, and good threads. Guaranteed original.
