This 73 Winchester was found right here in Georgia. Almost all the ones you find down here have brown patina, better than avg. wood, and are almost always in 32 or 38 caliber. This one is a 38-40 with standard 24" octagon barrel full magazine, and crescent rifle buttplate. This is about as untouched of an 1873 as you'll find. It's all original down to the smallest screw. It even has its original 4-piece set of cleaning rods still in the stock. Overall condition is NRA Antique Good+ to VG with the metal turned to a smooth dark patina with some traces of original blue mixed down the barrel and receiver. Brass loading block is marked "38 CAL"...very dark and never cleaned. Nice markings throughout. Serial number is in the 346,000 range. Mfd in 1890. The stocks are in VG+ condition with 70% original varnish. Tight wood-to-metal fit. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Nice working action. Good+ bore...very respectable with no rings or bulges and nice rifling...will improve with some cleaning. This one is right out of the attic so we have not had a chance to clean it...but looks like it could shape up to be a sharp little Winchester!
