Winchester 1892 Rifle in "Attic Found" Condition


Winchester Model 1892 Rifle with an early production antique serial number in the 23,000 range. Mfd. circa 1893. Caliber is in .44 WCF, a.k.a. 44-40. Standard sporting rifle configuration with 24" round barrel, full magazine, and steel crescent buttplate. Original sights include standard semi-buckhorn rear with German silver blade front sight. It has all the early style markings including the two line Winchester barrel address and the three line upper tang marking with model, maker, and patent dates.

This one looks like it just came right out of an attic. Condition grades well into NRA Antique Fine Range with 65% original blue overall that is mixed with patina. Hammer and lever show traces of case colors having mostly toned to a brown patina. Fine screws overall. Sharp markings. The walnut stocks are completely untouched retaining 85% original varnish. Perfect wood-to-metal fit. No cracks or repairs. Nice mechanics. The bore is Fantastic and in Excellent Plus Condition!
