Overall Condition Grades to NRA Antique Very Good Plus with the metal worn mostly to a light gray that's turning over to a light brown patina. There is original blue remaining in all the protected areas...especially the bolt which has 80% original blue. Hammer shows 30% case colors with traces of colors at the top of the lever. Original wood has 75% original varnish with some light handling marks with some rack wear on the left side of the forearm. Wood is very solid with zero chips, cracks, or repairs. Nice mechanics and a Fine+ to Excellent bore. Screws are Very Good overall...especially on the frame. Nice untouched example of a very early 1892 in desirable 44-40 that's all original.
